Reception Blog 20.05.19

This week we are having another Quentin Blake story that is featuring on the corridor display.

Mr Magnolia – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mister-Magnolia-Quentin-Blake/dp/1862308071

This is a rhyming story about a man who only has one boot but then he finds a mysterious package with something in it so that he can be like everybody else. Rhyming is really good for the children as they are starting to play with the sounds of and can have fun making up silly rhyming sentences.

The corridor displays are being put up this week and hopefully will be finished by the end of the week so please come and have a look at the beautiful artwork the children have done.

In maths we are recapping doubling and trying to solve real life problems involving doubling. We will also be having another look at telling the time with o’clock and half past. Here are some challenges that you can try at homethumbnail of doubling and halving challenge cards

We will be doing all the normal things like story scribing, reading, dictated sentences and the children will be practising writing tricky words. If you’d like to continue practising reading and writing these at home too that would be great. We have only done phase 2 and 3 so far.

Please remember there is a story cafe of Friday morning which you had a letter about last week. It is 9.00 – 10.15 in the hall.

Have a good week and a fabulous half term holiday next week!
