Reception Blog Week Beginning 03.06.19

Welcome back – We hope you had a lovely half term.

Wow, only one half term left in Reception – We can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by! It will be a busy half term though with lots to look forward to.

This week is International week in school and the Year 1s and 2s are learning about India. We focus mainly on the UK in Reception so the children develop a more thorough understanding of where we live.

The book this week is a non-fiction book about mountains. We will discuss the mountains that are the names of our school teams – Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike. We will remind the children why we have mountains for team names and we will also compare these mountains to the Himalayas.

In maths we will be revisiting halving and using our knowledge of halving to solve real life word problems. here are some you can try at home. We will also revisit sharing amounts.

We are learning a special dance for the beginning of sports day which will be a nice surprise for the spectators. We have a specialist dance teacher who comes in to work with each year group and then it all comes together for a good introduction to sports day.

We will be continuing to do story scribing and writing dictated sentences, learning phonics and reading.

Also we will be playing both inside and out as normal, making the most of the nice June weather!
