w/c 14th October

Wow, we’ve made it! Half term is here. The children have settled into year 1 so well and had an amazing first half term. Please enjoy a well earned holiday but don’t forget to keep reading!

This week in English the children received a letter from the 3 Bears asking lots of questions. They then wrote their own replies.

In Maths we have continued to practice adding and have also been making sure we can write numbers the correct way around.

We had an RE day on Thursday and the children were thinking all about belonging; belonging to groups like rainbows, swimming, karate, belonging to a school and a team. We looked at different badges and symbols we use to show we belong. We then thought about the symbols Christians use to show they belong. Next we designed our own badges of belonging.

In Topic we have been learning about the artist Paul Klee. The children have learnt about tinting (adding white to a colour to create different shades) and have also made salt dough fish in the style of Paul Klee’s “Golden Fishes”

Dates for your Diary

W/c 28th October is our International week. The children will learn lots about 1 country. It’s a secret until that Monday but don’t forget to ask the children which country they are learning about once we are back at school.

The Halloween disco is Tuesday 29th October 5-6.30 pm. It is £2.50 per child and is paid on the night.
