This week in English we have been looking at and describing different animals. The children have been using some great adjectives and similes.
We then looked at some mythical and made up animals and created our own! Mrs Ellis made a swiraffe- a swan like giraffe! The children have been thinking about how these animals move and which habitat they live in. Next week they’ll be independently writing a detailed description about their new animals.
In Mrs Ellis’s maths we have been carrying on with addition and subtraction. Next week we will be moving on to money. As part of your home learning you could play shops, play with real coins, ask your child to calculate (add) simple amount, think about how much change you would get at the shop (subtraction).
In Mrs Prophet’s maths children have been thinking about relative facts. For example- if we know that 1 + 6 = 7 then we know that 10 + 60 = 70. We have also been recapping number bonds to 10 (2 numbers that total 10 e.g. 2+8=10, 3+7=10).
In science this week we carried on thinking about the ocean habitat. We learnt about dangers to the ocean and created posters to encourage people to recycle plastic.
