In English this week we have been very busy. On Monday we had some very special visitors but they got lost! We went on a hunt around the school looking for clues to find them and eventually we found “Fluffy, Ginger and Poppy” the guinea pigs! We sequenced the photos from our adventures and used “first, next, then, after than and finally” to talk about them. Next week we will use the language we learned to write recounts of our day with our other special visitor!
Speaking of special visitors, on Friday “Jimmy” the tortoise came to spend the morning. He is 100 years old and really enjoyed his first ever day at school! We learned that he only likes to eat lettuce and tomato! We loved learning about Jimmy and his life so a huge thank you to Lucia and her family for bringing him in.
In maths this week we have been finding 1 more and 1 less than different numbers. We have used dice, counters, spinners, number cards, number lines and numicon. It has been very busy and by the end of the week the children were excellent with 1 more and 1 less so don’t forget to quiz them at home.
Thank you to everyone who came to the year 1 parents meetings. Please feel free to ask if there is anything you are not sure about.
